Changing Jobs: AI and Reskilling Young Workers

It is now well known that technological advancements are causing massive job losses and forcing workers to switch occupational categories. Lost jobs are typically automated using machines, computer programs, and artificial intelligence (AI). Labor market is shrinking for occupations whose tasks are easy to automate. Young adults in entry-level jobs are most affected by this situation. What if we could use the same advanced technologies to support impacted workers? In this chapter, we show how machine learning, a subfield of AI, can leverage labor market data to identify skills workers need to switch occupations.
