A Framework of Material Management for a Construction Project in Tanah Merah

The construction industry is one of the most important economic sectors globally, with significant growth in construction projects in Malaysia. However, managing complex construction projects remains a challenge for most companies, as it requires finding the best approach for materials management. To address this issue, a framework for improving the supply of building materials within construction projects in Tanah Merah, Kelantan was developed. This study investigated the current materials management practices in contractor companies based in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, using both quantitative questionnaire-based methods and qualitative interview methods. The main findings revealed problems with materials management practices, ineffective use of materials management techniques, and the need for new materials management approaches to improve company performance. Ultimately, the study showed that implementing a materials management system positively impacts company performance.
