Mortality Risks and Burden of Heatwaves and High Temperature
摘要
HeatwavesHeatwave and high temperaturesHigh temperature are associated with increased mortalityMortality risks. Enhanced by the changing climate, the mortality risks and burden may keep rising in the future. With a nationwide disease surveillance point system in 272 cities in China, this study estimated cityCity-specific and nationwide mortality risks of heatwaves and high temperatures using distributed lag nonlinear models and predicted the mortalityMortality burden in the future with global climate models from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6). This study examined the population’s vulnerability to heatwavesHeatwave and high temperaturesHigh temperature, including demographic and climatic modifications, highlighting the necessity for adaptationAdaptation measures against heat stress to contribute to the reductionReduction of the heat-related mortalityMortality burden.
