Effects of Orbital Degrees of Freedom, Different Shapes of Polarons

We consider the formation of orbital polarons (which contain only one type of d orbitals in the ferro-orbital state) in the matrix of the checkerboard (antiferro) d orbitals of two different types in the transition metals compounds. We analyze different shapes of orbital polarons in 2D systems.
