A Novel Design for Multi-fragment Momentum Imaging with Polarization-Time Tagging
摘要
We developed a multi-fragment ion momentum imaging method for capturing momentum images of all kinds of ions simultaneously, where the time-of-flight of fragment ions is tagged with the angle of linear polarization. The fluorescence emitted from the MCP/phosphor detector assembly in a standard velocity map imagingVelocity map imaging ion spectrometer is temporally modulated monotonically using an electro-optic light modulatorElectro-optic light modulator, and the angle of linear polarization tagged with the time-of-flight of the fragment ions is imaged with (i) two scientific CMOS cameras and (ii) an imaging polarimeter comprising a CMOS image sensor with a four-directional air-gap wire grid polarizer array. In both methods, the time-of-flight of the fragment ions can be retrieved with a temporal resolution higher than 100 ns.
