Integration of Charging Stations in Power Systems Using RESs in a University Campus in Romania

According to Green Deal ecological pact governments and businesses are investing in different ways to reach a cleaner energy future. In this chapter, the integration of charging stations for electric vehicles and the use of renewable sources for their power supply is analyzed. Different types of renewable energy sources are discussed together with their operating principle and their development in Romania. Different aspects such as types of charging stations, electric vehicles and the problems that may arise when integrating them into the existing power system are discussed. The analysis of the interconnection of a charging station for electric vehicles using photovoltaic panels as a power source, in a university campus, is conducted. In the analyzed university campus, a system with renewable sources is already installed, the system is now used in a simulation to power electric vehicles through electric charging stations in the respective campus.
