Cities and COVID-19. Reflections on a New Research Agenda for the Cities of Tomorrow

Throughout 2020, the world faced an unprecedented situation caused by the global spread of COVID-19, resulting in a series of challenges. This chapter discusses the conceptualization of the city as a formal object of knowledge and an object of intervention, and the need to generate a new research agenda around urban areas for the upcoming years. In doing so, it briefly outlines the main research areas aimed at analyzing cities in the context of COVID-19, with the aim of proposing possible lines of research for the future.
