Symptoms and Diagnosis
摘要
Female lower urinary tract symptoms (F-LUTS) can be divided into storage and voiding symptoms. Proper assessment of F-LUTS is essential for an accurate diagnosis and management. Taking a careful clinical history should be the first step in the evaluation of any woman with LUTS which includes storage or voiding symptoms, identification of the type and severity of urinary incontinence), the risk factors and any associated bowel or sexual dysfunction. Physical examination includes measurement of body mass index (BMI), abdominal and pelvic examination (stress testing, inspection for pelvic organ prolapse or urethral diverticulum and to assess pelvic floor muscle tone) and focused neurological examination to rule out any neurologic diseases. A bladder diary and validated symptom questionnaire are recommended as reliable tools for the assessment of storage F-LUTS. In this chapter, we will provide comprehensive coverage of diagnosis of F-LUTS including basic and advanced investigations in accordance with the international guidelines.
