Introduction
摘要
This chapter provides a background to the study; it provides a brief profile of Guyana, a description of structural pluralism as a key analytic construct employed throughout the book and explanations of the data collection and analysis strategies employed to shed light on the persistence of structural divisions (of both the horizontal and vertical manifestations). Other concepts such as hierarchical plurality (ethnic stratification) and segmental plurality are further described and operationalised within the context of Guyana.
