Simulation of a Tubular Pyrolysis Reactor Using Comsol Multiphysics Software

This article provides a visual realization of the scientific study of the process of decomposition of biomass at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen in the tubular reactor of pyrolysis plant (PP) which is modeled with the help of Comsol Multiphysics software. The developed model of tubular reactor PP in simplified geometry allows to significantly reduce the amount of computing work, calculation time by 72% and is a tool for research and optimization of pyrolysis process. The model is a three-dimensional representation of the degradation process of plant biomass which has a specific thermal conductivity, density and dynamic viscosity. The study emphasizes the importance of using computer modelling in the study and optimization of pyrolysis processes. This opens up new opportunities for improving pyrolysis and deriving valuable biomass products. Moreover, the results of the study could be used to improve existing pyrolysis plants and to develop new technologies for biomass processing. Further studies are planned to further refine the model and expand its application.
