Is Artificial Intelligence Intelligent?

This chapter is a synthesis of a book I recently finished under the same title: Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) intelligent? After an overview of the development of AI, chapters were developed on consciousness and intelligence in the context of the cognitive sciences. Then, learning was taken as a key to understanding intelligence as a focus of comparison between human intelligence and machine learning algorithmic intelligence.
