Metabolic Enzymes: Polymorphisms and Species Differences
摘要
Before elimination from the body, foreign compounds to which humans are exposed undergo metabolic conversion mediated by phase I and phase II metabolic enzymes. Phase I activation enzymes catalyze oxidation, hydrolysis, and reduction reactions to metabolize foreign compounds. The produced functionalized compounds then proceed with reactions catalyzed by phase II detoxification enzymes to facilitate the elimination of water-soluble metabolites from the organism.
