Emerging Energy Markets
摘要
In the realm of energy, transformation is the new constant. This chapter offers a concise exploration of “Emerging Energy Markets”, where innovation and adaptability take centre stage, in the context of the proliferation of renewables. Possible evolutions of energy markets include market segmentation, where the dynamic interplay between renewables and dispatchable energy sources is explored. This strategic division lays the foundation for a resilient and balanced energy ecosystem. Further, we unveil co-optimisation strategies that incentivise flexibility providers to ensure grid stability in the face of renewable intermittency. We illuminate the rise of innovative business models like on-site power-to-x, placing power production and distribution in the hands of businesses and communities, and physical and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), enabling direct renewable energy procurement. A disruptive force emerges in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy markets, reshaping energy governance and consumer empowerment. Flexibility markets, bolstered by diverse service models, address grid congestion, voltage control, and grid services’ provision in general to keep the stability of the grid, while powered by renewables. This chapter serves as a gateway to the exciting, ever-evolving landscape of “Emerging Energy Markets”, inviting readers to explore the transformative potential of these dynamic energy systems.
