摘要

The fundamental features of implant treatment for the replacement of missing teeth have not changed since its introduction into mainstream clinical practice in the United Kingdom in the 1980s and, in fact, since their conception by Professor Brånemark in 1965 [1, 2],. A comprehensive planning stage is needed before the surgical placement of the implant(s) into sufficient height and width of bone, where an element of stability is required. After a varying time period ranging from immediate loading to a delayed approach, implants are eventually restored with a fixed or removable prosthesis.
