Airborne Noise and Vibration Control Treatments

Noise and vibration control for most land-based systems is typically straightforward. Effective controls usually exist. An important factor and difference from land-based mechanical systems is the ‘coupling’ of the noise and vibration to the ship structure and then from this structure to its environment – whether internal or external to the vessel. This coupling is quite different across both air or fluid interfaces. Not all treatments used for land-based facilities are appropriate for use in marine fields.
