Anterior Skull Base

The anterior skull base (ASB) forms the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, separating the intracranial compartment above from the sinonasal cavity and orbits below. Accordingly, pathology involving the ASB can originate from the bone itself, can be an intracranial process extending caudally, or a paranasal or orbital process extending cranially. This chapter will focus on important anatomic structures found within and around the ASB, as well as key imaging features of benign and malignant processes that can involve the ASB.
