Science, Illusions, Conspiracy Theories, and Pseudoscience

In this last chapter of this book, I will try to briefly contrast the world of science with the realms of illusions, conspiracy theories, and pseudoscience. True breakthroughs and advances in healthcare almost invariably rely on good science generated by teamwork and systematic research, testing hypotheses and independent replications. The realm of alternative medicine, by contrast, is dominated by illusions, conspiracy theories, and pseudoscience that frequently originate from single inventors. Scientists, one could conclude, want to know, while the inventors of bizarre alternative modalities want to believe.
