Neurodiversity and Work: The Road Ahead

  • Alecia M. Santuzzi,

摘要

As demonstrated through the variety of chapters in this volume, the conversation about neurodiversity in the workplace continues to evolve both in breadth and depth. Much like related topics such as disability in the workplace, neurodiversity discussions have been prompted by an increase in the existence and awareness of individuals with neurodivergent conditions and identities, coupled with alarming employment statistics. With the growing attention to, and numbers of workers with neurodivergence, organizations will experience pressure to rethink the “typical” worker and adapt the workplace in ways that appreciate the neurodiversity of their workers. Through this volume, authors have shared empirically and theoretically informed lessons that apply to employment practices guiding selection, evaluation, and support for emerging and current workers with neurodivergent features. Although not complete, these lessons provide the building blocks for organizations to establish a neurodiversity perspective and a workplace that is inclusive of a neurodiverse workforce.
