Role of Extremophiles in the Removal of Heavy Metal and E-Waste
摘要
Extremophiles flourish in environments that are intolerably unpleasant or even deadly. Arctic cold, extremely hot niches, and saline lakes are examples of these extreme circumstances. Some extremophiles can thrive in the presence of organic and heavy metal toxins, toxic waste, and other pollutants that are fatal to other creatures. Extremophiles can be found in the volcano, deep sea, and hydrothermal vents. They are the most numerous groups of species on Earth, although receiving less research. Due to their versatility and adaptations to various environmental niches, extremophiles can be exploited for bioremediation such as the removal of heavy metals and e-wastes.
