Eco-Welfare in the Field of Social Sciences

This chapter represents the first theoretical step towards the construction of the analytical interplay between eco-welfare and energy transition. Based upon a literature review, eco-welfare is discussed as an emerging conceptual paradigm that enables to explore the ways in which environmental concerns are combined with the preservation of social rights in the field of social policy. Moving from the standpoints that question the growth imperative in the sustainability of welfare, the chapter navigates the literature behind the socio-environmental nexuses that contribute to the definition of the eco-welfare paradigm, which enables to investigate the complexities of the contemporary socio-ecological crisis.
