We’ve all been there. The blank stares. The tired eyes. Rows of students with open laptops and cell phones in hand. We raise our volume, tell jokes, or design engaging small group discussions. We require class participation or call on people at random. We try and try. And to some extent, we fool ourselves into thinking that our students are to blame.
