Behavior-Based Safety in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services Settings

This chapter addresses principles and applications of behavior-based safety (BBS) in human services settings for persons diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The chapter includes an outline of the basic BBS process, why the process is especially important for human services, and how it is applied in these settings. Additionally, the unique personal protective equipment used in human services is discussed. Finally, ideas for future research and practical implications of the chapter are presented.
