摘要

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the electoral body responsible for the conduct of presidential elections in the Fourth Republic of Nigeria. The Commission has the constitutional mandate to register and delineate constituencies, allocate polling units, register voters, register and deregister political parties and make regulations for the conduct of presidential elections. INEC is also responsible for the conduct of other elections, including elections to the National Assembly, Governorship elections, State Houses of Assembly and local councils in the FCT Abuja. Since 1999, INEC has fulfilled this role with challenges, shortcomings and successes.
