This chapter deals with influential elements that determine the power game and the elites’ competition for control of power in the country’s presidential elections. Like other presidential systems, Nigerian Presidential Elections are characterised by some factors that clarify how and why candidates emerged, who influenced them, who financed them and who negotiated or bargained on their behalf.
