Powerful Geography in Switzerland: Potential and Challenges
摘要
In this chapter, the Powerful Geography approach is explored in the context of a baccalaureate school at upper secondary school level in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The results of a survey with students (n = 62) and professional geographers (n = 3) resulted in the development of two teaching and learning activities which should not only promote geography competences but also skills useful in a much wider field such as managing projects and working in an interdisciplinary context. Reflections on the implementation of the approach in this scholar context in Switzerland result in the conclusion that Powerful Geography has a lot of potential here but that the communication between teachers at schools, teachers at university and professional geographers should be strengthened.
