Extended Precipitation Products Validation Against Rain Gauge Records in Slovakia

In this paper we evaluate ten selected precipitation products from three different providers against ground-based rain gauges via two types of quality metrics (correlations and errors) and report aggregated annual results for six years (2017 to 2022) for the territory of Slovakia. In our evaluation we compare daily precipitation totals predicted by these precipitation products against those recorded at the rain gauges serving as the ground-truth. We also report several cases of unusually high discrepancies between the predictions of these precipitation products and the ground-based rain gauges.
