Totalitarian Media Narratives: Living Consciousness in Captivity
摘要
The chapter argues that one of the manifestations of living consciousness is the belief in the divine origins of political power (BDOPP). Captivated by their BDOPP and contrary to their private interests, people succumb to authoritarian messages. The link between BDOPP and the forms of political government—democracy and authoritarianism—is made. With the boost of mass media resulted from the emergence of TV and the Internet a new form of authoritarianism appears—the totalitarian media narrative (TMN). The TMN has its psychological roots in BDOPP. Properties of TMN are analysed and causes of the emergence of competing TMNs in society are exposed, using the war in Ukraine as an example.
