Gender-Based Differences in Demographic and Time Domain Pulse Rate Variability Parameters in Association with Type2 Diabetic

摘要

PRV has been used in recent years for HRV analysis using pulsed waveform mainly from PPG technique. This study is an approach to study gender-based differences in T2DM status both from demographic and PRV analysis through FPPG recordings. A total number of 486 subjects were participated where 252 subjects were diagnosed with diabetes and 234 were control group. Out of 486 participants, 284 were males and 202 were females. The 5-minute PPG recording was done at the sampling rate of 200 sampling points per second, and demographic and clinical data are taken through standard questionnaire. To test the significant difference for diabetic and non-diabetic group for both genders, the significant test was done by Student’s two-tailed t-test for all possible combination of categorical variables at 5%. This study established that some of time domain PRV parameters can be used as DM predictors, which have significant difference in their mean values for diabetic and non-diabetic group with other demographic parameters. This study also verifies that sexual dimorphism plays a key role in the pathogenesis (DM) for some demographic factors and also for PRV measures. The values generated in this study may be useful to understand the different health needs and pathogenesis between women and men.
