Developing CO2 Detection Sensor Competitive Design Based on the Voice of the Household Consumer

In the current competitive world, technology is key and innovative designs are the ones that acquire customer attention, determining market success. Due to its multiple usage options and safety advantages, the CO2 detection sensor industry is developing very fast and new production ideas emerge. Nevertheless, the voice of the customer is seldom taken into consideration when designing sensor characteristics or the actual sensor case. The present paper aims to develop a suitable design of such a sensor for the household consumer, based on quantitative research which uses the Kano model and stated importance questionnaire implemented on 134 respondents from the Western part of Romania and evaluates it by using two most recent Kano refinement models, namely the HWWP (Health Weapon Wealth Prospect) and the Health Weapon Wealth Prospect – Disease Defeat Disadvantage Inertia model (HWWP-DDDI) from the theory of attractive quality domain. Based on these approaches, the potential added value and value loss of each sensor feature are discussed, determining a more effective and efficient decision-making process.
