Aspects Regarding the Ergonomic Design of Workstations in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry

Throughout 239 years of industrial evolution, from Industry 1.0 to Industry 4.0, the human factor has proven to be a common core concept. In the era of Industry 4.0 that has come with technologies capable of supporting the operator cognitively and physically, there are still gaps in manufacturing companies in terms of harnessing human capital to achieve the optimal level of productivity. This paper aims to present important aspects regarding the design of work cells by implementing ergonomic principles in manufacturing companies. The actuality of the paper consists in the fact that the design of workstations resides in the need to reflect and characterize some prevailing trends in the evolution of science in general and of work design in particular, as well as in the fact that such an approach responds to some current requirements of practice in the field of workstation design work in work cells.
