Analysis of the Wear of Die Cut Knives Used in Flexographic Technology

This paper studies the flexographic die cutting process, at this moment there are no references about a methodology to help make the best use of dies to achieve maximum lengths of die cut material under optimum finished product quality conditions. This paper presents a part of the experimental research carried out with the aim of establishing generally valid rules for extending the durability of the die cut by varying two processing parameters, namely increasing the length of the die cut material and reducing the wear of the knives on the die cut. The finished product was die cut from a thin cardboard, from the point of view of material structure and thickness, used in all experiments described in this paper. The optimization of cutting regimes by die cutting with moulds is based on the relationship between the wear of the die and the maximum length of the die cut material, resulting from the variation of the parameters of the die cutting regime, i.e., the moment of the die clamping force and the die cutting speed.
