摘要

Inconel 718 is a kind of precipitation strengthening nickel-based superalloy with excellent high temperature mechanical properties. This material is among the difficult-to-cut materials. In this study, the effects of cutting parameters on flank wear and surface roughness in face turning of Inconel 718 alloy were investigated. Tool wear was monitored using a SOIF XLB45-B3 digital stereomicroscope. The roughness of the machined surface was measured using a Mitutoyo SJ-410 instrument. The experiments were designed by Taguchi method and ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) method was used to determine the effective factors. The optimum parameters were determined as the cutting speed of 40 m/min, feed of 0.1 mm/rev and cutting condition of 7 bar air for surface roughness and the cutting speed of 40 m/min, feed of 0.1 mm/rev and cutting condition of 60 bar cutting fluid for flank wear. Additionally, the feed and the cutting speed were found as the most effective factors on the surface roughness and flank wear, respectively.
