Venice
摘要
Venice, the quintessential water city where my journey as a human began, is the departure port for my adventure aboard Pontoporia. Growing up at the waterside, looking to the sea to satiate my passion for nature was inevitable, but, as a child, I struggled to find in the city’s texture the type of naturalness I was craving. One serendipitous day, I chanced upon a secret underwater world of sea anemones, brittle stars, and hermit crabs: miniature wonders that had been hiding in plain sight in a canal of the lagoon. This discovery led me to dedicate a lifetime to observing and caring for marine life. The event also animated the idea to invite the reader to join me on a trip across the wounded Mediterranean Sea, to partake in the excitement generated through encounters with its non-human inhabitants such as the whales, dolphins, monk seals, sharks and rays, and to derive from these experiences a resolve to secure their uncertain future.
