Theoretical Calculations of Plasmon Spectra for a Rectangle with a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas

In this work, a method is developed and the excitation spectra of plasmon resonances in a rectangle with a two-dimensional electron gas are calculated. The normal incidence of an arbitrarily polarized electromagnetic wave on a rectangle with a two-dimensional gas is studied. The absorption, extinction, and forward and backward scattering spectra of the incident wave are calculated. The instantaneous distributions of the spatial charge distribution in a plasmon are constructed along a rectangle with a two-dimensional gas. It is found that almost the entire extinction of the incident wave is spent on the absorption of the wave by charges in a two-dimensional electron gas.
