Effect of Bottom Geometry on Surface Waves in a Vertical Circular Cylinder
摘要
In the approximation of long waves, the problem of standing waves in a circular cylindrical vessel with a rise at the bottom is formulated and numerically solved using the algorithm of accelerated convergence. As a result of the calculations, the natural frequency of the main wave mode was determined with high accuracy. To compare theoretical results, new experimental data on the excitation of standing surface gravity waves in a circular cylindrical vessel with parabolic and conical elevations at the bottom are presented. The coincidence of the calculated and measured values of the natural frequency of the fundamental wave mode in vessels with a profiled bottom is shown.
