Effect of UV Radiation and Ozone on the Viability of Biofilms and Resting Forms of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Bacteria

This article contains the results of bactericidal treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Using a specially designed irradiator with a concentrator of diffusely scattering material, biofilms and dormant forms of these bacteria were exposed to UV radiation, ozone, and their combination. Numerical estimates of the radiation density directly on the processed samples are presented. The ratio of living and dead cells was determined using confocal laser scanning microscopy. The results of the work showed a good experimental effectiveness of the complex effect on the super-resistant forms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
