Effects of Abortion on Shame and Shame Evaluations. An Empirical Investigation

This chapter presents the results of an online survey conducted in 2023, in which 22 women between the ages of 20 and 65 participated. The majority lived in Germany and all participants had experienced an abortion. The study investigated the extent to which this event was experienced as burdened with shame, whether and in what way this burden and evaluation of shame changed over time, and which factors proved to be relevant to these evaluations.
