Neocortical Delta Waves, with Implications for Generalized Epilepsies as Well as Decision-Making

摘要

Delta oscillations, at ~1.5 to ~4 Hz, appear in the mammalian brain in a number of different contexts, some pathological and some apparently essential to normal function. It is likely that the underlying cellular mechanisms are not identical, yet still having overlaps. Delta oscillations in the EEG were recognized in the 1930s and 1940s (Cobb, J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry 8:65–78, 1945), with other forms of delta observed later.
