Structure and Mechanism of Function of Botulinum Neurotoxins: How Does the Toxin Work

This chapter discusses the molecular structure of botulinum toxin and how the toxin gets into the nerve cells after being injected into the muscle or skin. It describes the sequence of events that occurs inside the muscle or nerve cell that lead to the beneficial effects of the toxin upon the nerve and muscle cells as well as sweat and saliva glands in the body.
