Bashes as Spaces for Healing Everyday Trauma of Fatphobia
摘要
Acting as a foil to the preceding chapter, Chap. 5 explores the many positive characteristics of bash spaces. Considering access to pleasure and desirability discourses that are often off limits to fat women outside of these zones, I consider the impact on self-esteem and self-worth. Further, I significantly consider the ways that gatherings of people with similar experiences of weight stigma may allow for intense community connections despite other differences among participants. Finally, I explore the notion of bashes as potential (uneasy) sites of fat activism.
