摘要

Mathematics (etymologically from Greek μά𝜃𝜂α = knowledge) intends to study topics as quantity, structure, space, and change. In this traditional understanding, geomathematics in our times is thought of being a very young science and a modern area in the realms of mathematics. However, nothing is farer from the truth (cf. [163]). Geomathematics began as man realized that he walked across a sphere-like Earth and that this observation has to be taken into account in measurements and calculations. In its character today one can only do justice to geomathematics as a key technology for geothermal exploration by briefly mentioning its significance in the superordinate geoscientific context.
