Assessing Operational and Administrative Challenges Confronting Budget Planning: Analysing Al Marai Case Study
摘要
This study analyzes the administrative and operational obstacles associated with budget planning, specifically focusing on the case study of Al Marai Saudi Company. The study highlights the inflexibility of budgeting and the potential negative outcomes that arise from overly strict budgets that struggle to adapt to unpredictable shifts in business strategies. The significance of consistent budget monitoring in response to ever-evolving market conditions is emphasized, as well as the need for key corporate decision-makers to possess specialized budgeting expertise. The analysis explores the concept of “budgetary slack” and its implications regarding data asymmetry and ambiguity. However, the study also emphasizes the importance of governance in effective budgeting and maximizing the utility of budgeting practices within the strategic planning framework. With this objective in mind, the study primarily examines various aspects of the Al Marai master budget, utilizing it as an illustrative case. The budgeting aspects studied include production, expenses, sales, and annual financial statements. Therefore, the study advocates for the significance of accurate cost analysis, stakeholder engagement, budget flexibility, and a shift towards a more strategic approach to budgeting. These measures are essential for enhancing the resilience of an organization through informed financial decision-making.
