Emerging Adulthood as a Developmental Stage
摘要
The current chapter—informed by developmental science and real-world patient experiences and case studies—provides the foundation for prioritizing emerging adulthood in primary care. Based on this foundational research, we describe the developmental period of emerging adulthood as a period of both risk and opportunity. We suggest general approaches for addressing emerging adult patient needs and leveraging innovations in healthcare to support this population. This chapter serves as context for subsequent chapters that will delineate more specific healthcare priorities and strategies for emerging adults with and without chronic conditions.
