Using Artificial Intelligence in the OKRs Methodology: A Theoretical Framework

To establish an agile organization, teams need to possess certain qualities such as proactivity, dynamism, versatility, and autonomy. AI technology can aid in decision-making by processing data efficiently, while the OKRs methodology emphasizes strategic objectives and promotes team alignment. In this paper, we propose a theoretical framework for using AI technology to enhance the benefits of the OKRs methodology. A systematic literature review revealed no studies directly addressing the use of AI technology within the OKRs methodology. However, the selected studies suggested some potential applications, such as promoting strategic alignment within organizations, uncovering root causes of team motivation issues, and enhancing the overall results and scalability of the OKRs methodology. Based on this, we developed a framework to explore the benefits and limitations of combining AI with OKRs methodology for companies undergoing digital transformation.
