An Evaluation of the Biblical Interpretation in an African Context in Light of 2 Peter 1:20–21

In this chapter, I have assessed the African biblical interpretations in an African context and how these perspectives can be improved. In doing so, it has been established that though there has been tremendous work done in biblical interpretation using African perspectives, the dominant perspective is their lack of confidence. The chapter assumes that all interpretations should be faithful to the original meaning of the text. Therefore, the contextual reading of 2 Peter 1:20–21 has been applied as an exegetical tool to achieve this goal of evaluating the work done by African precursors and predecessors in interpreting the Bible from an African point of view. The chapter concludes that the African perspective methods of interpreting the Bible are congruent with 2 Peter 1:20–21. The central argument of this chapter is that the African biblical perspectives retain the original meaning of the scriptures. The contextual reading of the Bible has been applied as an exegetical tool to evaluate African biblical interpretations.
