Introduction

This chapter introduces the book’s contents. The present book aims to advance knowledge about the recidivism of young offenders. The main aims are: firstly, providing innovative and relevant quantitative and qualitative evidence regarding the prediction of youth offending and recidivism in the lesser-studied context of Argentina and internationally; secondly, reviewing the most significant risk factors for youth offending and recidivism and the most relevant protective factors for youth desistance; thirdly, reviewing research on the prevention of youth offending and recidivism, supplying innovative methods for the prevention of recidivism by young offenders.
