Designing International Research to Promote Academic Integrity: From Funding to Educating
摘要
This is not the story of how one researcher had a big dream and it came true. It is the story of how a series of little dreams progressively evolved into a big dream: an international research project on preventing plagiarism. It is the story of the beginning of the Partnership on University Plagiarism Prevention (PUPP), the trials and tribulations of obtaining a grant, and the benefits and difficulties of working on a big research team. The PUPP consists of 35 partners (universities and associations) and 63 researchers and collaborators whose broad objective is to find ways to prevent plagiarism in higher education. In this chapter, the authors have listed 20 lessons they learned while thinking, discussing, writing, and researching academic integrity. Lessons range from taking a leadership role, finding the appropriate funding opportunities, writing a winning grant, to managing a large research project.
