Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Academic Integrity: Introduction

  • Ceceilia Parnther

摘要

The “Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion” section of the Handbook of Academic Integrity begins with acknowledging systemic exclusion and omission that impact education globally. The chapter introduces the section thematically through guiding principles, followed by understanding integrity in a larger educational context. Chapters in the section define this issue of academic integrity in diverse contexts, aligning these to the social impact of colonization and discrimination, and offer frameworks to refine training, assessment, policymaking, and integrity promotion. Cultural considerations and opportunities to expand and refine policy and practice align with the best practice examples. Finally, using country- and region-specific examples, the chapter illustrates the considerations for expanding current frameworks of decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion acknowledging responsibility, limitation, opportunity, and a need for collaboration and reconciliation.
