Tools for Planning and Monitoring Intervention Effectiveness Research, Quality Improvement Activities, and Program Evaluation

A conceptualization of the research or evaluation as described in Chaps. 2 and 3 provides the basis for operationalizing the Problem-Intervention-Outcome Meta-Model (PIO MM) for intervention effectiveness research, quality improvement activities, and program evaluation. In this chapter, tools and techniques are described for working with key stakeholders to examine workflows, conduct root-cause analyses, and plotting existing or proposed data. In the next chapter, further examination of the PIO MM-derived variables and tools for examining them will be presented.
