The Third and Fourth Generations of Regional Chairs (2011–2021)
摘要
With a new generation of Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering starting in 2010, this chapter describes the Chairs of the past decade and how they strengthened the National Network of Chairs through more frequent meetings and joint research projects, programming, and publications. They include Tamara Franz-Odendaal in the Atlantic region, Ève Langelier in Quebec, Catherine Mavriplis in Ontario, Annemieke Farenhorst in the Prairies, and third-generation Chair Elizabeth Croft, followed by fourth-generation Chair Lesley Shannon, on the West Coast. The rise of social media and more accessible publishing of brochures and videos allowed this group to widen its reach. Exchanges of best practices also provided models for Chairs to adapt to their regions to ensure national coverage for the different target populations addressed by the Chair program.
